Teng Wang, CRD

As the newest postdoctoral fellow in CRD’s Scientific Data Management Research Group, Teng Wang will explore novel file system architectures to accelerate real-world scientific data movement and foster scientific discovery.

Before joining Berkeley Lab, Wang was a graduate student at Florida State University exploring strategies and file system designs to tackle the input/output challenges of scientific applications. As part of this work, he collaborated with researchers at Oak Ridge, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratories, and NASA. He also published papers at several conferences and journals, such as  IPDPS’17SC’16Cluster’15 and IEEE BigData’14.

Wang notes that he fell in love with computing as an elementary school student, when he was introduced to it in a math course. Originally from China, Wang earned his Bachelors degree in computer science from Zhengzhou University and his Masters degree in software engineering from Huazhong University of Science and Technology. He moved to the US in 2012 to pursue his Ph.D. in computer science.

In his free time, Wang likes to play ping-pong and the violin. He also likes to spend time hiking outdoors.
